Terms
Open source software, provided as-is.
The licence governs
The PodSteer application is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. That licence is the agreement: it grants you the right to use, modify and redistribute the software, including commercially, and it includes an express patent grant. Nothing on this page adds to or subtracts from it.
These terms cover the application you download and this website, which is everything PodSteer offers today. Should a separate paid service for teams be offered later, it would come with its own terms, and they would apply only to that service — the application would remain under the licence above.
No warranty
As set out in sections 7 and 8 of the licence, PodSteer is provided on an "AS IS" basis, without warranties or conditions of any kind, and its contributors are not liable for damages arising from its use.
This matters more than boilerplate usually does, because PodSteer can change your clusters: it can scale, restart, edit and delete objects. It does so with the credentials your kubeconfig already grants. Restricting what it may do is a matter of restricting those credentials — PodSteer enforces no permissions of its own, and cannot.
Third-party components
PodSteer distributes open source components under their own licences. The complete inventory ships inside the application, under Settings → Credits, with the full licence text of each. A CycloneDX SBOM is published with every release.
Trademarks
Kubernetes is a registered trademark of The Linux Foundation. PodSteer is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Linux Foundation or the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. The name is used only to describe what the software works with.
