macOS, in three commands

brew tap podsteer/tap
brew trust podsteer/tap
brew install --cask podsteer

brew trust is required and is not about PodSteer: Homebrew refuses to load a cask from any third-party tap until you say you trust it, because a cask is code that runs on your machine at install time. Without it the install stops with “Refusing to load cask from untrusted tap”, which reads like an accusation and is not one. You can read what you are trusting first — it is one file.

A cask rather than a formula, because PodSteer is a windowed application: it installs into /Applications where the Dock and Spotlight can find it.

First launch

macOS is signed. Windows will warn.

The macOS build carries an Apple Developer ID signature and a notarisation ticket stapled into the bundle, so Gatekeeper accepts it without a prompt and without anything to run first.

The Windows build is not signed yet, so SmartScreen will show “Windows protected your PC” on first launch. That is the absence of a certificate rather than a finding about the file — a code-signing certificate is a cost we have not committed to, and this note stays here until we do.

Verify what you downloaded against the checksums published with the release rather than taking our word for it.
