Released

PodSteer v0.5.0

A small release about working with several clusters at once. Tabs can be dragged into the order you want, a group can be QA or an environment you name yourself, and All clusters shows the same rows from every tab.

What you need to know.

  • Nothing to do: settings and groups carry over.
  • Homebrew users: brew update, then brew upgrade --cask podsteer.

Clusters and tabs

  • Drag a cluster tab to rearrange the strip, or move the tab in front with ⌘⇧← and ⌘⇧→; ⌘1–9 follow the new order.
  • All clusters has one namespace for the window, All namespaces by default. It used to follow the tab in front, so a second tab could show the first tab's rows and then empty them.

Environments

  • A group can be QA, or a custom environment you name — Sandbox, say — with a tab mark of up to three letters.
  • Tabs carry a short mark for every environment: PRD, STG, QA, DEV or your own. Production keeps its red.

When a connection goes

  • A backend that stops answering reads as a lost connection with Retry, instead of the browser engine's own "Failed to fetch".
  • A cluster the backend no longer holds offers Reconnect, which makes the connection again without closing the tab.

Updates

  • A newer release shows as a download icon beside the version in the status bar, glowing briefly once a minute, instead of a badge in the tab bar.
  • A check that could not reach GitHub is retried after four hours rather than the next day, and no longer hides an update it had already found.
